Originally from Spain, Marta moved to Aotearoa in 2008. She is a marine ecologist based at the University of Otago, and a trustee of the Far Out Ocean Research Collective. Her research focuses on marine megafauna, particularly cetaceans, and on understanding how wild populations respond to impacts. Her research interests include species-habitat relationships, behaviour and food webs, with a focus on science that is informative for communities and management.
